Hello and welcome to Dementia-Friendly Books.
I started this project for my Mum, who loved reading all her life but now finds long passages difficult.
I wanted us to keep our shared love of reading, so I created books with clear images and short sentences she can follow easily.
They’ve helped us connect, talk and spend time together in a way we were starting to lose.
I hope they support your family too.

ABOUT
These books have been designed and written because they resonate with my Mum and me.
As her reading changed, I wanted something we could still share — something simple, familiar and enjoyable for both of us.
I researched layout, visual design and content approaches recommended by organisations such as Dementia Australia, and shaped each title around what works for her. These books aren’t meant to be a clinical activity. They are simply a way for two people to connect over a shared love of reading.
I know they work for people in the early stages of dementia because my mum enjoys them. She reads a sentence or two, looks at the images, and always has something to say.
And, true to her decades as an English teacher, she once asked for a pen “just in case anything needs correcting.”
